Hayesville Inn on the Square

Coming Soon

12 Herbert Street

Hayesville

In November 2024, Clay County Communities Restoration Association (CCCRA) purchased the long vacant building at the corner of Herbert St. and Business 64 at the main intersection on the historic courthouse square, across from the Historic Courthouse/Beal Center and Nocturnal Brewing Company.

Built in 1940/41, it was a hotel and café. During the TVA building of Lake Chatuge many of the workers resided there. Apparently they were a rowdy lot as Hayesville was not a ‘dry’ town and families didn’t want to come downtown. The intent was to restore it but after much research and considering the amount of remediation necessary, it was decided that demolition and rebuild was the best option.

When complete it will be a boutique hotel with retail space.
